Make your sheet
Everything renders in your browser — the sheet is yours to print or save as PDF.Printing uses your browser's own “Save as PDF” — page size is set to US Letter, portrait. Free sheets print with a faint diagonal mark in the corner. Nothing else on the page is restricted — every row, guide and letter size is yours to print.
How to use the generator
- Type what the child needs to practise. Their name is the usual starting point — it is the one word every kid wants to write well. A short word or a phrase works just as well.
- Pick rows and letter size. Beginners do better with large letters and fewer rows. Once the joins are steady, shrink the size and add rows.
- Print, then trace. The light grey letters are for tracing with a pencil. Print the same page twice: once to trace over, once to copy on the empty row below.
What is on the sheet
The sheet is built the way handwriting workbooks are built: a solid top line, a dashed midline, a solid baseline and a descender line. Letters that climb (b, h, k, l) touch the top line, letters that dive (g, j, p, q, y) drop below the baseline, and the dashed midline is what keeps a, c, e, o, s the same height. That structure is why a worksheet beats a blank page — the child can see where the letter is supposed to stop.
Questions people ask
- Is this really free?
- Yes. The generator runs in your browser, there is no account and no download button to hunt for. Use the print dialog and choose “Save as PDF” if you want a file.
- What age should start cursive?
- Most programmes introduce joined writing once print letters are steady, usually around seven or eight. Short daily practice on one letter beats a long session once a week.
- Why does the sheet use a dashed midline?
- Because cursive letters are sized by two heights, not one. The midline tells the child where the small letters stop, the top line where the tall ones stop. Without it, letters drift and the joins break.
- Can I type a whole sentence?
- Yes, up to 60 characters. Longer text is split per row, so a sentence stays readable instead of shrinking to nothing.
- Does it work on a phone?
- The sheet renders on a phone, but printing is the point — open it on a computer or send the PDF to a printer.
Every letter, one page each
If you are working through the alphabet, start with the letter and come back to the generator once the shape holds. Each page has the three strokes, the join, and the mistake to watch for.
Start with the letter itself and come back to the generator once the shape holds — the full A–Z list shows every letter side by side, and the cursive alphabet chart puts upper and lower case on one sheet to print.
