How to write a cursive o

  1. Start just below the midline, curve left and around.
  2. Close the loop on the baseline, then continue up the right side.
  3. Exit from the top right, level with the midline.

A o sits in the short zone. Capital O is one closed loop from the top, finishing with a small tail at the top right.

Joining o to the next letter

o is the one short letter that exits high, which is why it joins so easily to everything. oa, oo, ou.

Where it usually goes wrong

The exit stroke is left out and o becomes a closed circle that the next letter cannot reach. Always carry the stroke above the loop.

Words to practise after the letter

Once the single letter holds its shape, put it into short words where it appears once: to, go, book. Type any of them into the generator above and it will lay out eight ruled rows of tracing for you.
