Cursive V
v is a u with a point at the bottom, and that point is the first thing to get rounded off. A cursive v is a short letter, and it hands over to the next letter high.
This is the same renderer the generator uses. Open it with v already filled in to change size, rows and guides, then print.
How to write a cursive v
- Start on the baseline, sweep up to the midline.
- Come down and to the right to the baseline in one stroke.
- Exit from the top right, back at the midline.
A v sits in the short zone. Capital V runs from the top line down to the baseline and back up, both arms the same length.
Joining v to the next letter
v exits high, so the letter after it starts from the midline and the join looks like a small wave. va, ve, av.
Where it usually goes wrong
The bottom point is rounded, which makes v look like a u. Keep the turn sharp and low.
Words to practise after the letter
Once the single letter holds its shape, put it into short words where it appears once: very, love, have. Type any of them into the generator above and it will lay out eight ruled rows of tracing for you.
