Cursive M
m is two arches of equal width, and every arch letter after it is judged against that pair. A cursive m is a short letter, and it hands over to the next letter low.
This is the same renderer the generator uses. Open it with m already filled in to change size, rows and guides, then print.
How to write a cursive m
- Start on the baseline, sweep up to the midline and come down.
- Arch over twice, each arch landing on the baseline, both stopping at the midline.
- Exit to the right at the baseline.
A m sits in the short zone. Capital M begins at the baseline, rises to the top line, and comes down in three strokes.
Joining m to the next letter
m hands over at the baseline and the arch after it starts straight away. ma, me, mm.
Where it usually goes wrong
The arches sag below the baseline. Both feet must land exactly on the line, same width.
Words to practise after the letter
Once the single letter holds its shape, put it into short words where it appears once: me, come, summer. Type any of them into the generator above and it will lay out eight ruled rows of tracing for you.
